Jamaican Railway Station & Mystic Pavilion

mystic-mountain-photoDesigned by acclaimed Jamaican architect Ann Hodges, the picturesque three-storey building is designed as a replica of an early 1900’s Jamaican railway station. Stunning views of Jamaica’s north coast are paramount along with majestic vistas of the hills and valleys of St. Ann. With over 9,000 square feet, the multi-level rail station features a lookout tower, second level bar and restaurant, retail space for shopping, photo shop and is the boarding point for Bobsled Jamaica. Adjacent to the Rail Station, Mystic Pavilion features displays and memorabilia celebrating Jamaica’s renowned culture, great moments in sports and the promotion of environmental awareness and conservation of natural resources. Perched on the edge of the mountain to complete this sensational setting is the infinity pool; a perfect modern counterpoint to the stunning tropical hillside.

AN ENVIRONMENTALLY SUSTAINABLE PROJECT

Mystic Mountain is situated on over 100 acres of land containing a Mystic-Mountaindiverse ecosystem including natural springs, tropical plants, trees and a variety of birds. Mystic Mountain exemplifies the natural, unspoiled beauty of Jamaica; the tours and rides have been carefully designed for minimal impact and the smallest possible physical footprint. During construction, the chairlift foundations were installed by helicopter, which significantly reduced disturbance to the environment and eliminated any need for a roadway to transport equipment. The latest design in chairlift towers – the “F” tower –

was also specifically selected to dramatically reduce impact to the forest environment. More than 1000 meters of bobsled track were hand carried through the forest, while the track was laid hugging natural limestone cliffs through the sloping hilly interior. More than 90% of energy requirements are generator supplied with unique specifications designed to reduce fuel consumption and carbon emissions by over 60%. The area can now be considered protected from de-forestation and urban sprawl.
