Small business owners benefit from workshop in Ochi

Small business owners and representatives have been undergoing training

to expand the capacity of their enterprises and to make more money from that.

The Jamaica Business Development Corporation (JBDC) started a mobile business clinic on Tuesday, July 11 at Hibiscus Lodge in Ocho Rios, St Ann, aimed at Entrepreneurs from St Ann and St Mary.

It was held under the theme “Converting capacity to currency”. It featured presentations on market research, attracting lenders and Lean manufacturing. Lean manufacturing involves never ending efforts to eliminate any activity that consumes resources without adding value in manufacturing. There were also one-to-one business consultations with partner agencies including Tax Administration of Jamaica and National Commercial Bank.

In an interview with the North Coast Times, business development officer of JBDC , Leighton Brown said, the JBDC mobile business clinic was put in place to support small businesses and to help persons that are hoping to start a business. He stated that the workshop is a capacity building workshop that was put in place to grow awareness and also to provide useful information.

The clinic or workshop ends Wednesday.
