Tainted Water Supply

The National Water Commission (NWC) says the disruption in service being experienced by some customers in St Ann, Trelawny and St James is caused by turbid condition affecting the Martha Brae Water Treatment Plant in Trelawny.

pipe-pumpIt says mud, dirt and other debris from rains has affected inflows to the facility.

This has resulted in some customers experiencing low water pressure or being without water.

Affected areas in St Ann include: Discovery Bay, Belle Aire, the Bahia Principe Hotel, Mount Edgecombe and surrounding areas.

Over in Trelawny and St James Falmouth, Greenwood, Rose Hall, Coral Gardens, Ironshore, Granville, Green Park, Schawfield, Martha Brae, Salt Marsh, Davis Pen, Wiltshire, Scarlett Hall, Florence Hall and Daniel Town are being affected.

The NWC says water supply will be restored to the affected areas as soon as the turbidity levels have cleared up.
